The Best Baits For Fishing – What Are the Most Effective Fishing Baits?

With the millions of baits available to fishermen, what are the best baits for fishing? In this article I’m going to describe some of the more popular baits used for fishing and the things that make them effective. This information can be used to our advantage the next time you go fishing and might just help you catch a few more fish.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to fishing is that nothing will help you catch more fish like spending time on the water. I think Anton Chekhov said it best, “Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.” Take this information onto the water with you and put it into practice.

Plastics – Plastic baits come in many varieties. The most popular are plastic worms and grubs. The most popular and one of the most effective ways to fish a plastic worm is the ‘Carolina rig’ (if you fish for largemouth bass you undoubtedly know about this rig). Plastic grubs are normally fished on a colored lead jig head. Plastic jigs are used as bait for many species of fish, from smallmouth bass to crappie. The manufacturer Berkley revolutionized the plastic baits market with their “Gulp” and “Power” products. These baits come in every shape and size and are impregnated with fish attracting scents. Berkley’s plastics are extremely effective fishing baits Fish XXL Pareri.
Live Bait – Live baits are probably the most popular forms of fishing bait. From live minnows to live crayfish, live baits are also extremely effective fish catching tools. The most popular live bait on the planet is probably the live worm. In many areas of the country, live worms can even be found in convenience stores. No matter what live bait you use, the key is to rig the bait properly. This is where gang hooks come into play. Gang hooks are simply a pair of small hooks tied in tandem, which allow you to present bait in a natural manner (especially in the case of worms). After all, if you fish with a worm, you worm should look like a worm and not a “worm ball” right?
Crankbaits – Crankbaits are any artificial bait that mimics live bait. The most popular and effective Crankbaits are minnow imitations. Of all of the brand names available the most popular crank bait is the balsa wood Rapala Minnow. These Crankbaits are extremely life like and look very realistic, and look almost like a real minnow underwater. The other bait fish that Crankbaits imitate are Shad. The most realistic shad imitation I’ve ever seen is called the KickTail Minnow. IN the same way the Rapala looks like a minnow, the KickTail looks like a shad.
Of the millions of baits available for fishing, these 3 types are probably the most popular and effective. Are they the only options? Of course not, but they are at the top of the list. If you don’t currently employ one of these types of fishing baits, you should probably add it to your repertoire. All of the baits listed above are very effective, and will help any angler catch more fish.
